HUGS

ALPHA60 X PATRICIA PICCININI
& HEIDE MUSEUM OF MODERN ART

In a creative first, ALPHA60 teams up
with renowned artist Patricia Piccinini
and Heide Museum of Modern Art
to present Hugs

Together, ALPHA60 and Patricia Piccinini
explore the nurturing nature of hugs
in a series of whimsical, inspiring and
emotive textile works. Hugs celebrates
the hyper-realistic and deeply intimate
aspect of Piccinini’s work, drawing
out conversations around nurture and
nature—two themes that often live at
the heart of Piccinini’s complex and
captivating artwork.

Patricia Piccinini is best known for her
mutant life-like creatures rendered in
silicone and hair. She has always been a
crusader for finding joy in those things
we know to be imperfect, and for the
values of compromise and community.

In 2015, Patricia Piccinini’s
ComCiência in Rio De Janeiro
was the most visited contemporary
art exhibition in the world.

Hugs is on display at Heide Museum
of Modern Art from 27 February to 14 March 2021.

Heide Modern, 7 Templestowe Rd, Bulleen VIC 3105

The textiles will be available for purchase throughout the installation period.

FIRST & ONLY TIME TO SEE MCGLASHAN & EVERIST'S
ORIGINAL FURNITURE FOR HEIDE II

In 1963, McGlashan and Everist was commissioned to design Heide II
for John and Sunday Reed. The Reeds lived there until 1980, when they
donated Heide II to the state for the purpose of a public gallery.
— Words by McGlashan Everist Pty Ltd Architects

The original furniture designed especially for Heide II is also
on display until March 14. The first time the original furniture
has been on display since John and Sunday Reed left the
property — and the only time for years to come.
